After a quick freshen up of the website, I’m back… hurrah! I couldn’t help but laugh at myself throughout the redesign because history was repeating itself – I had done exactly the same thing on AFL grand final day the year before when I’d given the site a makeover instead of watching the football.

Having said that, what a difference a year makes! My head was in a different space last year and because my direction wasn’t clear, neither was the site and I found myself uninspired to post. That’s about to change!

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I love to photograph, and decided I could sum it up simply – the beauty that is all around us. Everywhere I look, I find beautiful things. From the street art of the urban landscape when the walls really do talk to the sunset on a summers day when the sky is aflame, that beauty is everywhere.

What I’ve decided to do here is to start sharing photos from my travels – both past and present for the time being as the archives are HUGE – alongside small moments of everyday life. All those things that I find beautiful and I hope you enjoy too.

Since we’re sailing off on a new adventure on the site, I couldn’t resist starting here at Flinders Pier on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, just out of my hometown Melbourne. Each time I visit here, I feel a wave of relaxation wash over me. Mind you, that happens anytime I’m near the ocean with all that lovely whitewash white noise.

These little boats make me daydream about the adventures that their owners have and ponder where I would love to sail away to if I had a little boat of my own. Past the horizon, no doubt.

So, I’ll sign off with a quote that I love from Mark Twain that fits these images and my aspirations for this site so well:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
