What do you turn to when the days have been long and the nights even longer? When you’re still awake to witness the light reaching the sky in the morning after gazing at the stars throughout the night? When the exhaustion is overwhelming? What is your pick-me-up?
For me, it’s flowers. And coffee… When my absolute favourite – the peony rose – isn’t in season, I have a few others that I keep an eye out for at the local florist, like stunning ranunculus. I love the way the petals are layers upon layers, the way the stems seem to sigh under the weight of the flowers themselves and the colours perfect for brightening up the day.
Today is one of those days and I’m incredibly thankful to have a bunch of ranunculus on the table to lift my tired spirit.
